Holiday Baking, Imperfect Moments & Grace

🍰🍪Christmas has a way of reminding us that Jesus often meets us in the small, ordinary moments — not just the big, polished ones. This year, one of those moments for us happened quietly in our kitchen after the stockings were emptied and the rush of Christmas morning had passed.

The girls each received Tasty Tinies baking kits in their stockings (we picked them up at Aldi), and what followed was simple, sweet, and full of joy.

No big plans. No expectations. Just kids, creativity, and time together.

Gracie’s Vanilla Funfetti Cake (The Crumbly Kind) 🎂

Gracie made a Vanilla Funfetti mini cake — and yes, it crumbled.

She took it out just a little too soon, and the cake didn’t hold together the way the box picture promised. There was a moment of disappointment, followed by a shrug, a smile, and the realization that it still tasted good.

It was such a small thing, but also such a real one. A reminder that mistakes happen, timing matters, and sometimes we learn more from what doesn’t go right than from what does.

Grace looks like trying again — or enjoying what you’ve made anyway.

Katie’s Kookies (Sticky Batter & All) 🍓🍪

Right next to her, Katie was working on Merry Berry Cookies.

She followed the instructions… almost. The batter ended up way too sticky after adding a bit too much water, and it took some extra flour, extra patience, and a few laughs to get it workable again.

It wasn’t perfect. But it was hers.

Her video captures the reality of learning — adjusting, laughing at mistakes, and discovering that things don’t have to be flawless to be worthwhile.
