There’s something beautifully simple about caring for our bodies with what God has already provided. This Chest & Feet Respiratory Blend is one of those go-to recipes that has stood the test of time in many homes—including ours.
Whether you’re looking for seasonal support, bedtime comfort, or a grounding evening routine, this blend is gentle, aromatic, and easy to make.
This whipped version of our Chest & Feet Respiratory Blend is light, creamy, and easy to apply—no digging or rubbing required. Adding castor oil gives this blend extra staying power while whipping creates a soft, cloud-like texture your skin will love.
🌿 Ingredients

Carrier Oils
⅓ cup coconut oil (solid) Provides structure for whipping and melts at body temperature, allowing gradual absorption of active compounds.
⅙ cup castor oil Thick and nutrient-rich; supports deeper absorption and helps the blend stay on the skin longer.
⅙ cup olive oil High in oleic acid and antioxidants; supports skin barrier function and enhances transdermal absorption of essential oil constituents.
Essential Oils
(Balanced adult-strength dilution)
9 drops each:
Frankincense
On Guard
Myrrh
Douglas Fir (doTERRA replacement for Siberian Fir)
Breathe
Optional add-ins (7 drops each):
Eucalyptus
Cardamom
🧴 Directions (Whipped Method)
1. Soften the coconut oil Allow coconut oil to soften naturally at warm room temperature until scoopable (do not microwave).
2. Combine carrier oils Add castor oil and olive oil to the softened coconut oil. Stir gently until fully combined.
3. Add essential oils Add all essential oils and mix thoroughly to evenly distribute.
4. Whip Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip on medium speed for 2–4 minutes until light, fluffy, and creamy.
5. Set & re-whip (recommended) Place the bowl in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes, then whip again for 1–2 minutes to stabilize the texture.
6. Jar it up Spoon into clean 4 oz glass jars, smooth the tops, and label.
💡 How to Use
If the blend melts due to warmth, no worries at all—this recipe is very forgiving.

Gently rub onto the chest and the bottoms of the feet
Especially comforting as part of an evening routine or quiet rest time
🤍 A Gentle Reminder
Wellness doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, breathing deep, and caring for ourselves with intention.
This blend is a beautiful way to support your body while creating a moment of calm and comfort in your day.
🌿 How These Oils Work in the Body
Essential oils are composed of biologically active plant compounds that interact with the body through inhalation and transdermal absorption.
Inhaled compounds rapidly enter the bloodstream via the lungs and influence the nervous, respiratory, and immune systems.
Topically applied oils penetrate the skin’s lipid layers and can enter local tissues and circulation, where they interact with cellular processes.
Many essential oil constituents have been studied for antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immune-supportive activity, particularly in laboratory and clinical aromatherapy research.
🌿 Frankincense
Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes and boswellic compounds that are known to cross the blood–brain barrier. These compounds have been studied for their role in cellular regulation, inflammation response, and immune modulation, as well as nervous system support.
🛡️ On Guard
The oils in this blend (such as clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary) contain phenols and monoterpenes that have demonstrated antimicrobial and antiviral activity in laboratory studies. These compounds are commonly used in aromatherapy to support the body’s defensive responses, especially during seasonal immune challenges.
🌿 Myrrh
Myrrh contains furanosesquiterpenes and sesquiterpenes that have been studied for antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-supportive properties. Topically, these compounds support skin integrity, while aromatically they contribute to nervous system regulation and immune response balance.
🌲 Siberian Fir
Siberian Fir is rich in bornyl acetate and monoterpenes, compounds that have been studied for their ability to support respiratory function, circulation, and muscular relaxation. These constituents interact with airway tissues and smooth muscle pathways when inhaled or absorbed through the skin.
🌬️ Breathe
Breathe contains oils high in oxides and menthol-related compounds that are known to support airway openness and respiratory efficiency. These compounds interact with respiratory receptors and are widely studied for their role in supporting clear breathing and oxygen exchange.
Optional Oils
🌿 Eucalyptus oil contains 1,8-cineole, one of the most studied essential oil compounds. It has demonstrated antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mucolytic activity in research and is widely used in respiratory and immune-support protocols.
🌿 Cardamom contains esters and monoterpenes that have been studied for antimicrobial activity and nervous system support, while also helping regulate inflammatory responses and balance stronger compounds in a blend.
🧴 Why Chest & Feet Application Matters
The chest allows continuous inhalation of volatile compounds, supporting respiratory and immune pathways.
The feet have high vascularization and large pores, making them an effective site for systemic absorption and whole-body distribution.
